Vera Mae Zabel, 86, of LaHarpe passed away at 10:40 a.m. Monday, August 17, 2026 at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stronghurst.
She was born on May 8, 1940 in Table Grove to Delbert and Geraldine Berry Heidenreich. She married Clarence Zabel on July 11, 1975 in Macomb.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; three sisters; three brothers and one brother in infancy.
Vera is survived by her children, Peggy (Kurt) Ross and Terry (Deanne Parsley) Beatty; four grandchildren, Jessica Short, Lauren (Anthony Lacabucci) Beatty, Kamryn (Ben) Schnurbusch and Kyler Ross; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Vera retired from GTE after 23 years of service. She collected gnomes and loved to watch old westerns on television.
Private graveside services will be held at Harris Cemetery west of Table Grove.
