Six local teens recently completed Teen Mental Health First Aid (tMHFA) training through Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) of McDonough County. The course was led by Sarah Baca, program director and Ashley Comstock, BBBS program specialist, as certified Teen Mental Health First Aid instructors.
Participants learn how to have supportive conversations, recognize when a friend may need additional help and connect them with a trusted adult. Throughout the training, the teens participated in discussions and activities designed to build their knowledge, confidence, and ability to support their peers.
Big Brothers Big Sisters congratulates these teens for completing the course and learning how they can better support their friends, peers and other youth in the community.
