McDonough County was under a flash flood warning through Saturday morning following heavy rainfall that hit the area over the past few days. An estimated 7 inches of rain fell in Macomb alone in the early morning hours Saturday as a severe thunderstorm with sky to ground lightning and torrential rains impacted the region. Colchester, Macomb and parts-in-between all had various reports of flooding and damage. The U.S.
Weather Service Central Illinois (see map) shows McDonough County rainfall totals anywhere from 3-8 inches overnight. The Illinois Storm Chasers Facebook page reported Saturday morning that numerous roads in the county were flooded.
