Nita Eileen Burg

 

Nita Eileen Burg,75, of Macomb Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 12th 2026 at HSHS St. John’s in Springfield Il with her loving family by her side.

Nita was born April 3rd, 1951 to Earl and Margaret Reedy of Table Grove, Illinois. She married Rodney Gene Burg on September 27th, 1975. He survives, along with their daughter Nanci (Joel) Hacker of Peoria IL. Also surviving are her brothers and sisters: David (Carol) Reedy of Naperville IL, Viola (Ken) Walters of Herman IL, John (Debbie) Reedy of Galesburg IL, Ellen (Ronnie) Webb of Lewistown IL, Carla Reedy of Galesburg IL, Mark Reedy of Galesburg IL, Kevin (Cindy) Reedy of Galesburg IL, Harlan Reedy of Macomb IL and Selina (Jim) Ladd of Springfield Il. She also has 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren by marriage, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Of course, her best friend Connie VanDyke of Ipava IL.

Nita worked at Western Illinois University in Faculty Development, then the Provost Office for nearly 31 years, retiring in 2010. She then went back as extra help, then being officially done 2012. She was a devout member of The First Christian Church of Macomb and was a firm believer of generosity, compassion and kindness for all. She was always willing to help and bake brownies for any function.

Nita enjoyed attending WIU Men’s and Women’s basketball and football games while holding season tickets. She also had become a Fever fan as well. She also enjoyed volunteering at the McDonough District Hospital’s Gift Shop, as well being involved in V.I.T. Class of 1969 Girl’s Group. Nita loved her family and spending time with them. She was always willing to stop what she was doing and smile for a selfie with Nanci. Sunflowers were her favorite flower and she loved putting up her Christmas tree each year. She had endless ornaments; she called it her “memory tree”. Her and Rod enjoyed reading together in the evening with their dog Belle between them. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 27th, 2025.

Donations can be made to The First Christian Church of Macomb, where she was a member for over 50 years.

Flowers can be sent to First Christian Church of Macomb as well.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21st 2026 at The First Christian Church of Macomb IL at 10 a.m. in the parlor. Funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary.
