Rebuttal to Recent Letters
While they likely will never win me over to their side, nor them to mine, I felt the need to just share some thoughts on three recent letters taking Republicans to task.
I agree that both Republicans and Democrats have spent our tax dollars with abandon. Obama increased the national debt by 87% to the tune of $9.32 trillion.
Trump increased it by $7.8 trillion in his first term and Biden increased it by $8.4 trillion. Plenty of blame to go around.
Yet those on the left tout “Medicare for All” which would put it on the taxpayers to the tune of only $32-40 trillion over the next 10 years. The preamble to the Constitution states that we are to “promote the general welfare,” but nowhere is it stated, as a nation, that we are to buy health insurance for everyone. One of these writers asked “How much debt do you want to leave your kids and their kids and grandkids?” Good question.
The government does nothing better than the private sector as it doesn’t matter what things cost. I understand there are issues, but the government is not the solution but surely more of the problem. The USPS has cumulatively lost $120 billion since 2007.
UPS and FedEx would be long gone if their balance sheet looked like that. Look how “The Great Society” has decimated the black nuclear family since its inception.
Next, no matter how often they say it, Trump is not “a self-appointed king.” Also, I did not “misguidedly vote for Mary Miller.” I did it intentionally.
“Useless war?” While I tire of Trumps flip-flops on progress in the war, and have mixed feelings, stamping out the largest supporter of Islamic terrorism is hardly

Socialist as a “boogie man?” The DSA is being welcomed into the “big tent” Democrat party more and more every day. Look at their website to find this: “You have no debt. You don’t need health insurance. You don’t pay a mortgage or have a landlord, because comfortable housing is a human right.
Your retirement is publicly funded. Food, education, energy, medicine, and transportation aren’t for-profit businesses; they are common goods and utilities. But what if you were free to spend your time how you like without worrying about cost or dreading going back to work? What if you didn’t have to think about paying rent or loans at the end of the month, or saving for college, or affording groceries?”
How about this line? “You work as much as you are able and no more than needed, and you would control your own labor and see it going to good use.” Those who work pay for the deadbeats? No thank you.
Finally, one the writers admonishes us to “see beyond the propaganda and vote for your best interest.” I will, but it certainly will never be for any candidate in the current Democrat party.

Examining Trump's Self-Induced War on Iran
I’m writing today to simply convey some alternative facts that I, as a retiree with the luxury of time on my hands, have noticed over the last few months.
In lieu of the constant, never-ending drumbeat of bald-faced lies spewed by the current so-called Republicans and their cadre of influencers, pundits and phony news broadcasters, I would like to offer some perspective.
Let’s examine Trump’s self-induced war on Iran. True, the Iranian dictatorship exudes big TALK. They (and not the vast majority of the 93 million Iranians), have sworn death to the United States. They, just like Sadamm Hussein, are a thorn in our side. They have refused to bow to our demands. They have the gall to defy our mighty MAGA leaders.
This defiance no doubt stings. This same defiance led another proud Republican administration in 2003 to actually manufacture evidence to convince the American people to swat a little fly off of the table.
Most of us recall the victorious proclamation “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED”.
The eight years of death and destruction that followed was devastating. Devastating to our brave soldiers and their families. Devastating to our economy. The consequences still felt to this day. In short, a tragic waste.
All built on a lie.
So what did we learn? Today we find history repeating itself. In our arrogant quest to feel GREAT again; to force obvious inferiors to bend to our will; to always be the WINNER; a short, and I quote “4-5 week” bombing campaign has morphed into another unmitigated disaster. Of our own making! Have we learned nothing?
Our oh so lethal Department of War is no longer murdering unarmed fishermen in the Caribbean. They are now attempting to sustain a vast armada of military assets thousands of miles from our shores. Our Commander-in-Tweet and his toadies daily insist that we’re kicking a**. The Iranians are BEGGING for a deal! An agreement will be reached any day now! It’ll be like nobody has seen before! Like in the history of the world!
I believe the time has come to wise up. We need real leaders, badly. Men and women who face up to their shortcomings, who are not led by this intoxicated phony MAGA rhetoric. We need local leaders who stand up to our shared American values. Leaders that lead and not blindly follow. Yes, I’m talking about Mary Miller and the hapless Darin LaHood. It’s time to vote Barbie and Ken out and elect real local leaders who solve real local problems.
