Bruce John Biagini 80, of Macomb
Bruce John Biagini, 80, of Macomb, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Bruce was born on July 12, 1946, in Chicago, to Bruno and Marguerite (Moretti) Biagini. On June 20, 1970, he married the love of his life, Frances C. “Fran” Bruzek, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Together they shared more than 56 years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, family, and service to their community.
Bruce graduated from St. Bede Academy in Peru, IL, in 1964 before earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, in 1968. He went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1971 and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1972, beginning a distinguished legal career that spanned more than five decades.
Bruce began his legal career in the McDonough County State’s Attorney’s Office before joining Gordon Hunt’s law office in Bushnell. He later became a partner in the McRaven, Stephens, McRaven & Biagini law firm, which eventually merged to become Flack, McRaven & Stephens Attorneys at Law. Throughout his career, Bruce also served as the City Attorney for the City of Macomb for 19 years, was a certified mediator for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, and represented Western Illinois University serving as the University’s legal counsel and Ethics Officer. He earned the respect of colleagues and clients alike through his wisdom, integrity, professionalism, and thoughtful counsel.
Outside of the courtroom, Bruce found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved working in his yard and tending to his gardens, was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed time spent boating on the Lake of the Ozarks with family and friends. His greatest fulfillment, however, came from serving others.
A devoted member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Bruce played an active role in the parish, particularly during its expansion, and faithfully participated in the men’s faith formation group, “That Man Is You.” He was also a proud member of the Macomb Rotary Club and the Macomb Area Chamber of Commerce, always believing in giving back to the community that had given so much to him.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Fran Biagini of Macomb; two sons, Jeffrey (Mary) Biagini of Lake Villa, IL, and Dr. Tim (Sydni) Biagini of Macomb; four cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Baylor, Augustus, and Tatum Biagini; two brothers, Brian (Denise) Biagini of Huntley, IL, and Barry Biagini of Macomb; along with several nieces and nephews.
Bruce’s legacy is one of quiet strength, unwavering integrity, and faithful service. Whether in the courtroom, his church, his community, or around the family table, he lived with humility, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to doing what was right. His influence will continue to be felt through the countless lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Macomb, with Father Mark Nkulu officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9, at St. Paul Catholic Church. Bruce will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery.
