It was a beautiful evening for Macomb's Fourth Annual National Night Out Aug. 4, hosted by the McDonough County Sheriff's Department and the Macomb Police Department, with participation from Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety, the Illinois State Police, the Macomb and Emmett Chalmers Fire Departments and Lifeguard Ambulance.
The nationwide annual event is an annual community- building campaign designed to promote police-community partnerships, heighten crime awareness and strengthen neighborhood camaraderie.
Law enforcement, rescue workers and firefighters from McDonough County, along with area social service, benevolent and educational organizations; churches, and other community resources were set up to provide information, resources and giveaways.
Save the date, Aug. 3, for the 2027 National Night Out.
