The Western Illinois Museum is thrilled to announce that it is a recipient of an Illinois Humanities 250th Gift, part of a statewide initiative commemorating the United States’ 250th anniversary. Through this initiative, Illinois Humanities awarded a total of $250,000 to 50 history, heritage, archival, and cultural organizations across Illinois that create, preserve, and amplify community stories and histories.
'We are honored to be recognized alongside organizations throughout the state that are working to preserve and share the diverse stories, experiences, and histories that shape Illinois,' Executive Director Sue Scott commented, “The $5,000 award is an investment in our community and in the work our staff and volunteers do to create educational experiences that bring people together, inviting them to participate in preserving and sharing our stories.”
