Construction on the new St. Hubert Parish Hall, which is just west of St. Paul Church along West Jackson Street, is moving along without a hitch, and church officials expect the $2.6 million project to be completed well before the end of the year.
Using funds raised over the past several years, last year the church purchased the former West Jackson Street dental office of Dr.
Timothy Fitzgerald following his retirement. The office building was torn down and construction began almost immediately on the 7,818-square-foot hall. Morton Building is the general contractor, and according to Committee Chair and St. Paul School Principal Laura Cody, local subcontractors, as well as local businesses such as Pella and West Side Lumber, are being utilized to build the new hall. The St. Hubert Parish Hall will be available for members of St. Paul, as well as St. Rose of Lima in Rushville, as the two parishes have consolidated and are now under the St.
Hubert Parish.
Once completed, it will house two offices for priests, as well as offices for staff and will feature a conference room, a warming kitchen for catering, accessible restrooms and a space large enough for St. Hubert Parish and its parishioners to host large events.
