Join Illinois Nature Preserves Commission Angella Moorehouse and our very own stewardship coordinator Kirsten Boesen for a tour of Short Fork Seep in Macomb! They will guide visitors through the trails on Aug 7th from 5-6:30 PM.
This Nature Preserve is 42 acres of beautiful sedge meadow and other wetlands. Owned and protected by our board member Alice Henry.
Over the past 2 years, intensive management has been completed to remove undesirable trees and shrubs to increase sunlight and promote the restoration of the wetlands and a historic oak-hickory grove.
The trails will be tall, unmowed grasses with potential tripping hazards so we rate this tour as Potentially Difficult. If you're looking for a more accessible tour, we recommend the prairie wagon ride on Aug 22nd.
