Hello Friends Are you staying cool?
Finally, today (Wednesday 7/22) there is a bit of relief in the air, temperatures and that crazy smoke from up north. It is just amazing to me that wildfires in Canada produced the smoke that filtered its way down to us.
Mother Nature certainly is almighty in her reach and reactions! But if you are still suffering from the heat, please remember that the Bushnell Recreation Center is available to cool off if you are needing it (and the temperatures warrant it).
And as always, remember to check on your neighbors and pets to make sure they are thriving and surviving.
Have you had the opportunity to rest and relax this summer? You certainly don’t have to go far, a staycation is available in your own backyard! The Bushnell Community Pool is open and eager for you to stop by and cool off with a swim.
They have been benefited by some wonderful sponsors for free swims, please remember to check ahead to see if you can swim for free! If no sponsored swims, the cost is very minimal for an afternoon or evening to cool off. The Reid Brewer Splash Pad is always open from 1-5 at no cost! What a great way to cool off and relax with your friends and neighbors! Timberview Lake also is in our backyard, offering camping and swimming for everyone! Spring Lake and Argyle are also open to the public for fun!
How fortunate we are to have these spots ready and available for relaxation and fun. You don’t have to travel a long distance and spend a fortune to have a summer staycation. Do the research and make a plan, you won’t regret a minute of it!
The Bushnell Fall Festival is fast approaching! This year the “theme” of the parade will be centered around the 250th Birthday of our great Country! Now is the time to plan your floats and your entries in the Pie and Cake Auction and the Craft and Hobby Show! We want you!! Please help us keep this Festival running each year! Festival dates are August 26 – 29th.
The Firefighter Water Fight is scheduled for 11am on the 29th! Always a great time to get wet and watch the Firefighters have fun!
Back to school is quickly approaching, now is the time to check what your students may need to start off the school year on the right foot. Remember to check with the school on start dates and what supplies are needed. You want to be able to give your students the best opportunity to have a good year. Gearing up with supplies and a routine that will need to be followed is so important. I truly miss shopping for school supplies and those first few weeks of school. It is the beginning of a fresh start for so many, and routine and schedules really make it so much easier for all. And please remember to talk to your kiddo’s about being kind and courteous to everyone. We need to make sure our future looks good, with raising our young people to be kind and productive. Our teachers can only do so much, and they rely on folks at home to form a great future for everyone. Also, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Don’t wait until they contact you. Make sure you establish a helpful and healthy relationship with the teacher.
They have 20-30 parents to work with, make sure you stay up on progress, activities and anything you feel is important. Their work is important, but you are a big part of that process.
