On the evening of July 20, a major thunderstorm severely damaged a longstanding Augusta landmark. Once the home of the Eagle-Scribe newspaper, the building was subsequently converted to an apartment complex.
The storm ripped the roof off the building, landing it in a heap behind the building on the south side. As Tuesday morning dawned, the building’s residents were seen moving in and out of the building, trying to salvage personal items which had inevitably received major water damage.
Elsewhere in Augusta, a carport was destroyed near the old historic Augusta Cemetery. Other tree damage was seen within the village as well.
Tree damage was prevalent in Plymouth, with the village crew and Knight Tree Service working to clear up tree damage. In terms of structural damage, the one visible point was some blown out windows on the second story of the historic Plymouth Opera House.
