New Addition Honors Late Volunteer
The late Terry Collins was always the man behind-thescenes at Wesley Village in Macomb, making sure the grass was always mowed, along with helping his wife, Barb, with the flowers and landscaping. To honor his legacy, a new greenhouse has been donated and built on Wesley's property, just to the east of the Wesley Community Center.
'Barb's Greenhouse,' named after his bride of 67 years, was recently constructed through the help of Mike Buchholz, Kevin Myers and a few volunteers, along with Roy Day Construction completing the concrete work. It will provide space to grow and tend to flowers to be planted throughout Wesley Village's 20-acre property. They also spruced up the entrances at the main entrance to Wesley Estates. According to their daughter Shelly Martin, who is the CEO of Wesley Village, her parents were 'her eyes' around campus, ensuring everything looked good, and would make suggestions to further beautify the grounds.
'Alongside Terry was Barb, who spent so much time nurturing and caring for the beautiful flowers around the Wesley Village campus,' said Wesley Director of Development Lisa Ward. 'In true Terry-and-Barb fashion, it seemed only fitting that Terry’s memorial proceeds helped us create something special.
'In honor of Terry and all who loved him, we are so excited to help bring this beautiful project to life,' Ward added. This greenhouse will be a place where love continues to grow, memories take root and Terry’s legacy blooms on.'
