Wendell Ivan Beck 76, of Colchester, Wendell Ivan Beck, age 76, of Colchester, passed away Wednesday evening, July 15, 2026, at Allure of Lake Storey in Galesburg, IL. He was born April 16, 1950, in Macomb to Ralph and Dorothy (Kipling) Beck.
Surviving to mourn Wendell’s passing is one son: Mark Cramer, Colchester: two daughters: Kelly Marshall of Pennsylvania and Kacie Beck of Pennsylvania; five grandchildren: Lily, Jace, Adele, Abi, and Layla; one sister, Kathy Irish of Macomb; two brothers, Greg (Lisa) Beck of Colchester and Steve Beck of Colchester; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Rick Beck; and one brother-inlaw, Ralph Irish.
In his younger years, Wendell was well known as an outstanding car salesman, selling vehicles throughout Macomb, Peoria, and Burlington, Iowa. He also worked alongside many great friends at A-1 Pest Control in Peoria for several years. Wendell later owned and operated Beck's Snack Bar in Colchester, where he especially loved visiting with his customers.
Those who knew Wendell also knew he enjoyed visiting the casino with his friends and listening to live music, especially when it was performed by the Beck Brothers Band. Wendell truly had a huge heart. He never met a stranger, genuinely enjoyed visiting with people, and rescued many dogs from the animal shelter, giving them a loving home where they were thoroughly spoiled. Most of all, Wendell loved his family.
A proud American veteran, Wendell honorably served his country during two tours in Vietnam. Like many of his fellow veterans, Wendell was exposed to Agent Orange. The lasting effects of that exposure impacted his health and placed limits on his daily life. Even through years of declining health, Wendell remained in good spirits, maintaining a positive outlook and a wonderful sense of humor. He was always grateful for the care he received, and his kindness left a lasting impression on many of the healthcare professionals he met along the way.
Friends may sign the register book and leave memorials from 8:30 A.M, to 6:00 P.M, at Jones Mortuary in Colchester, on Friday, July 24, 2026. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester, with military rites performed by the Macomb American Legion and the Macomb V.F.W at a later date.
