Thanks to the support of local organizations, homeowners, residents and out of town visitors we had a wonderful Macomb Beautiful Garden Tour on Sunday June 28!
We had 124 people visit the 10 gardens over the four hour period on a very warm but very breezy day. That made for a very successful fundraiser for our organization!
Our volunteers who helped host at each one said that the visitors were very engaged in the experience-asking questions, having conversations with the hosts and others guests and sharing information about gardening topics. They were all very enthusiastic, and courteous; We heard a lot of positive comments and thank you’s to the hosts and MB Members for the event. I think we all felt like we were part of a community that day and were enriched by the experience which means even more that a successful fundraiser.
Our thanks to Carol Clemens for designing the beautiful poster for the tour. Also, to Jock Headblade Director of the Macomb Area Visitors and Tourism Bureau for including our tour as part of the Heritage Days events and publicizing that on their and the City of Macomb’s Community Calendar and in the Heritage Days Event publication. And many thanks to Lynne Campbell and staff at the Community News Brief, for supporting the event by publishing articles and advertising before their their publication.
We couldn’t have pulled it off with out the MB Garden tour committee that began planning for the tour one year ago. Nor, without members that volunteered to work with owners ahead of time and co-hosted the day of the tour at each garden.
