Generating Wind & Revenue

Generating Wind & Revenue

While RWE cannot provide specifics about costs, RWE’s director of external communications Ryan Ferguson said that his company has seen increases in both material and labor costs, similar to most other industries in recent years.

In spite of the increases, the company remains committed to completing this project, with operations scheduled to begin in late 2026. Revenue specifics cannot be provided as it is commercially sensitive, he noted.

Camp Creek is located on participating landowners’ private property, offering a stable, 30-year source of income while powering homes and businesses, Ferguson explained. For families who choose to host turbines, this income can be used to reinvest in their agricultural operations, save for retirement and use their increased purchasing power to support local businesses throughout McDonough County, he added.

Camp Creek I is subject to the conditions of a decommissioning agreement, which is approved by the county and secured by financial assurances by RWE. This is held by the county and assessed and revised on an as needed basis. This ensures that RWE is solely responsible for the cost of removing all site equipment and restoring the land to its pre-existing condition, allowing landowners to resume agricultural activities. Camp Creek works with landowners proactively to reimburse them for any damage to crops and land restoration as part of our project. Its leases are legally binding and obligate the company to return the land to its pre-construction condition as well as ensuring landowners are compensated for any project-related activities.
