Today is Father’s Day and also the longest day of the year. Hope all you men had a great day whether you are a father or not. You may have been a father figure, nurtured someone or something and more. In one way I hate to think of this being the longest day because that means the days will be getting a bit shorter each day. I love the longer days. It is easier to get sunset photos when sunset happens well after I close the store.
Yesterday was a fun day at the store. There was a gathering of several families who no longer live in the area. Names I remember were Twaddle, Wright and those who owned the Pickerd grocery store where Plymouth Rock Antiques is now located. It was fun to talk to them and share memories. I got to see some photos of the interior of the building while it was a grocery store which was a first for me. They gave me a really big box of salt and pepper shakers which had been a family collection. Thank you! So nice to meet you.
Monday, I had lunch with friends at Hy-Vee and went to the T-Mobile store to get my email restored. Also bought some things for the store.
Wednesday, we had storms much of the day. The first radio alert went off at 3 a.m. Was also at Antique and Collectibles Club in Macomb where we had a program of the really fine glassware from Bohemia and other parts of Europe. Love to learn more about beautiful glassware as I know so little about it and further, it is lovely. Also, on Wednesday there was a new moon and Venus was clearly visible with Jupiter also in line. Managed to get a photo of all three but didn’t know it until I looked closely at the photo. Was just lovely.
Thursday the Obama Presidential Library in Chicago opened. All the former presidents and first ladies were there, as were many other people whom we consider important. According to photos and comments on Facebook it was a joyous and positive day attended by thousands. Was not even mentioned on the local news which was disappointing. We hear so much negative news about our country, we also need to hear about the positive things happening.
