Funds Raised Go to McDonough County Animal Shelter
For Breckyn Murphy of Macomb, giving back is just something that comes naturally.
The soon-to-be eight-yearold has watched her parents, Gabby Dye-Murphy, owner for 2Dye4 Hair & Co, and Lance Murphy, give back to the community they call home, plus as a member of the St. Paul School student body, community service projects are the norm. And now for the fourth consecutive year, Breckyn is hosting her annual lemonade stand outside her mom's salon, 129 S. Randolph, this Friday.
Starting at 11 a.m., June 26, Breckyn will be selling lemonade and sweet treats – and will have a few new surprises this year – to raise money for the McDonough County Animal Shelter. In addition to fresh lemonade, visitors can purchase homemade chocolate chip and sugar cookies, dog treats sponsored by MB Dog Co. and dog toys, with all proceeds benefiting the shelter. Last year’s venture raised $2,640, and since starting her lemonade stand in 2023, Breckyn has raised $5,140 for the shelter.
“I’m excited to keep helping animals,” she said. “Bring your dogs too!”
The following businesses are co-sponsoring the 2026 lemonade stand: 2DYE4 Hair and Co., JC Events and MB Dog Co.
Individuals and businesses interested in supporting Breckyn’s lemonade stand through sponsorships or donations are encouraged to contact Gabby Murphy at 2Dye4 or Courtney Powelson at connectingwithcourtney@ gmail.com. All funds raised from the event benefit the McDonough County Animal Shelter.
