Elbe And Rigg Receive All-State Diamond Honors

A pair of local diamond standouts have received state honors in their respective sports.

Macomb High junior Nick Elbe was one of 27 players selected to the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association Class 2A All-State squad.

Elbe was also a Prairieland Conference First Team unanimous selection for the second straight year.

On the season, Elbe had a batting average of .522 and an on-base percentage of .621. That included drawing 18 walks and getting hit by pitches 12 times.

He finished the season with 60 hits in 34 games, including 11 doubles, eight triples and six home runs. Elbe scored 50 runs, while knocking in 48, posting an on-base plus slugging (OPS) percentage of 1.534.

In softball West Prairie/ Southeastern junior Tegan Rigg was named to the Illinois Coaches Association Class 1A All-State Third Team.

On the season, Rigg hit .406 (26-of-64), including four doubles, three triples and three home runs. She knocked in 20 runs and scored 16.

She had an on-base percentage of .500 and a slugging percentage of .703 for an on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS) of 1.203.

Rigg had eight stolen bases and finished with an .857 fielding percentage.

She was also a Prairieland Conference Second Team selection.
