The Pool Board wanted to take a moment to share an honest update with our community: As many of you know, the Bushnell Community Pool is not funded by a large organization or endless resources. Our pool continues to operate because of the dedication of our board members, volunteers, the support of local businesses, and the generosity of community members who believe in keeping this special place open for our families.
Unfortunately, this season has brought several unexpected challenges. Between major repairs, rising chemical costs, and other operating costs, the financial strain on the pool has become overwhelming. We have worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make repairs, stretch every dollar, and keep the gates open, but the reality is that we are fighting an uphill battle. The Bushnell Community Pool is more than just a place to swim. It is where children learn water safety, where families make summer memories, where friends gather, and where our community comes together. For many families, it is one of the few affordable ways to enjoy summer close to home. We love this pool. We love seeing the smiles on children’s faces, watching families spend time together, and providing a safe place for our community to cool off and have fun. That is why this update is so difficult to share.
Right now, we are in dire need of help. We need volunteers willing to lend a hand, donations of any size, community members to attend our fundraisers, local businesses willing to sponsor or support us, and continued patronage from those who use the pool. Every admission, concession purchase, donation, sponsorship, and volunteer hour truly makes a difference. Over the coming weeks, we will be announcing additional fundraisers and opportunities to help. We hope our community will rally around the pool the way it has so many times before. No contribution is too small. When many people come together, incredible things can happen. Our goal is not just to survive this season, but to continue making improvements and repairs so the pool can remain a safe and enjoyable place for years to come. We want future generations of Bushnell families to experience the same summer memories that so many of us cherish.
If the Bushnell Community Pool has ever been a place that has brought joy to your family, we ask that you consider helping in any way you can. Share our posts, attend our events, visit the pool, volunteer your time, or make a donation if you are able. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your continued support, encouragement, and belief in what this pool means to our community. Together, we can keep the Bushnell Community Pool open and continue bringing summer fun, laughter, and memories to the families of Bushnell.
With gratitude, The Bushnell Community Pool Board Last month I saw a group of kids playing a pick-up game in an empty lot. I cannot tell you how happy it made me. They were so mindful of traffic and throwing the ball and hitting it, and just plain having fun! It was so simple and innocent, but it made a huge impact on my day. Nobody had devices out and looking at them instead of playing. They obviously organized it themselves, and they were having FUN! It reminded me of my childhood and that of our son. I hope all kids get to experience that – simple fun. Not something that was planned down to every detail, just spontaneous fun. Let’s bring that back – spontaneous fun. This is something I could manifest very easily! I hope it happens!
“Almost when you least expect it, things fall into place. You realize that what left was making space for what was about to arrive. The quiet let you hear the guidance. The unhappiness forced you to make a move. The unsettledness made you keep seeking. The end ushered in a new beginning. The doors that closed turned you toward the ones that were opening. The lessons were always leading you. Every time you got it wrong, you came one step closer to having it right.” – author unknown Take care and stay safe – Robin Wilt
