Macomb City Township Supervisor Angela Markley told the township board Monday that $9,925 in general assistance funding was distributed in May. She said the largest portion of the allocation, $8,288, was for shelter expenses.
Markley said that 32 general assistance cases were reviewed in May. Decisions are pending in seven of them and two were denied. Five men and six women were declared employable. Nine men and nine women have applied for disability. Two men and one woman were declared medically exempt from employment.
The township supervisor said six general assistance applications were handed out this month and seven interviews were scheduled.
