R. Wayne England of Macomb, Illinois, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the age of 93. He was a man with strong hands and an even stronger heart. A man whose life was defined by hard work, faith, family, and a deep love for the land. Wayne leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Wayne was born on May 22, 1933, in Galesburg, Illinois, to Ralph and Hilma (Ecklund) England. He grew up on the family farm, developing a strong work ethic and appreciation for rural life that remained with him throughout his life. Wayne was a proud veteran of the United States Army as a field artillery survey specialist from 1952-1954.
On April 27, 1957, he married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Meyer. Together they shared more than 65 years of marriage, raised four daughters rooted in faith, devotion, and service to their community. Wayne and Joyce founded England Tile and Marble Company, a business that served the Macomb area for more than 55 years. Through dedication, integrity, and craftsmanship, Wayne built not only a successful business but also lasting relationships with countless customers and friends throughout the region.
Beyond his work, Wayne pursued many passions. A lifelong racing enthusiast, he was both owner and driver of the England Tile and Marble Three-Quarter Midget racing team and among his many trophies, earned the title of Illinois State Champion in 1971. He also played an important role in the construction of Spring Creek Speedway in Macomb, helping create opportunities for generations of racing fans and competitors.
Wayne's greatest joy came from simple pleasures: spending time with family, working on his hobby farm, caring for the land, cutting trees, and enjoying the outdoors. In recent years he continued to enjoy spending time outdoors with his companion Janice Butterfield and their dogs. Those who knew him will remember his determination, generosity, quiet wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the people he loved.
Wayne is now reunited with his parents; his beloved wife, Joyce; and his brother, Richard England.
He will always be cherished by his daughters, Cindy (Brad) Severs, Linda (Dennie) King, Wendy McKeever, (Larry Knowles), and Sandra England; his sister, Mary Anne Mundy of Oneida, Illinois; his brother, Edward England of Galesburg, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Chris (Taylor) Severs, Matt (Mackenzie) Severs, Anne (Kenny) Meyer, Justin (Katie) King, Alix King, Derek (April) King, Stacia McKeever, Lucas McKeever, Julia (Alex) Dudley, and their families; extended family members, dear friends and his faithful dog Auggie.
Wayne's family finds comfort knowing that he has been welcomed home by his Lord and Savior and is with Joyce. His race is finished, his work is complete, and his example will continue to guide those who loved him.

The family will host a Celebration on Sunday August 2, 2026 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Macomb Country Club. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the McDonough District Hospital (ICU) or to the McDonough County Animal Shelter.
