Kunes and Friends Pack 600 Food Kits in Record Time

Over 40 volunteers packed 600 meal kits in 31 minutes Wednesday at Kunes Auto Group’s Macomb dealership, shattering last year’s record and delivering food to families in need.

The packing event, part of Kunes’ annual Trade-In Hunger initiative, assembled non-perishable food items for distribution through the WIRC Food Pantry. Each kit contains enough ingredients to prepare four meals. The previous record stood at 43 minutes.

Volunteers from Macomb High School’s football, girls basketball, cheer teams along with Principal Jimmy Heuer and Athletic Director Steve Horrell joined Kunes employees and their families in the effort.

“This is a fun event with a wonderful result at the end — feeding our community,” said Andy Laverdiere, Regional Media Marketing Lead for Kunes Auto Group. “Kunes would like to thank all those that showed up and helped us reach our goal.”

Kunes Auto Group has hosted the Trade-In Hunger events for the past five years across more than 50 of its locations, which include car dealerships, RV dealerships, resorts, hotels, and restaurants.
