The McDonough District Hospital recently announced the MDH Health Scholarship deadline has been extended to Friday, June 12.
MDH offers seven scholarships, ranging from $500 to $5,000, for those pursuing a career in healthcare.
Those include the Winona Winter Scholarship, established in 2021. This scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing nursing.
The scholarship is in the amount of $5000. Maxine Simeral Scholarship, established in 2010. This annual scholarship will be awarded to an applicant pursuing a health career, not limited to nursing.
Gayle and Ron Peterson Nursing Scholarship, established in 2007 is awarded to a student pursuing an RN degree. The scholarship is $100 per year. Recipient may not be a nursing student pursuing an advanced degree such as a masters nurse practitioner or CRNA Carolyn J Baumann Nursing Scholarship was established in 2014 in honor of Carolyn J. Baumann, RN. A $500 scholarship awarded annually to an applicant pursuing a BSN at WIU. The student must be a junior or senior and reside in McDonough or Hancock Counties.
Gabbert Nursing Scholarship was established in 2004 by Larry K and Joyce E Gabbert to provide one or more nursing scholarships at $500 each per year. The scholarship/s may not be used for a nursing student pursuing advanced degrees such as nurse practitioner or CRNA. Rather, the fund should be used to pursue a CNA, LPN or RN.
Dr. George Roodhouse Health Career Scholarship was established in 2020 in honor of Dr. Roodhouse. A $500 scholarship (if funds allow) is awarded annually to a student pursuing a degree in healthcare Donna M Twomey Nursing Scholarship was established in 2011 by Dr. Patrick M. and Donna Twomey to provide a $500 nursing scholarship each year. The fund is used for nursing students pursuing education at any level (ADN and BSN). The donor request taht the funds will not be used for anursing student pursuing advnaced degrees sucha a s MSH Nurse Practioner or CRNA.
