Terry Dean Lock

Terry Dean Lock, 79, of Avon, Illinois, passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, Illinois.

He was born on October 3, 1946, in Canton, Illinois, to James Hobart and Marian Ruth (Taylor) Lock. On March 21, 1970, he married Cherie Ann Finch in Atwater, California. She survives.

Also surviving are his three children, Kristen (Jim) Lail of Dayton, Ohio, Kendra (Bryan) Hartman of Lincoln, Illinois, and Jeremy (Marissa) Lock of Spokane, Washington; five grandchildren, Hannah, Zane, and Ella Hartman, and Wilson and Henry Lock; one sister, Carolyn (Don) Moffitt of Gilson, Illinois; and one brother, Jim (Sally) Lock of Avon, Illinois.

Terry was a 1964 graduate of Avon High School. He went on to attend the University of Illinois, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Mechanization. Following his education, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1975 as a navigator in the RF-4.

Throughout his professional career, Terry worked in banking, where he was respected for his knowledge, integrity, and dedication. Yet, despite his success in the financial world, farming was always where his heart truly belonged. He cherished the land, valued hard work, and found great fulfillment in the agricultural way of life. Terry was known for his quiet strength, practical wisdom, and unwavering devotion to his family. His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved, especially his children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Checkrow Community Church, with Pastor Brett Fisher officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at the church. Burial will follow at Avon Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Stroke Alliance, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, or the Cayden Mahr Scholarship Fund.
