Fundraising Efforts Underway for Honor Flight
On June 1, central Illinois Hy-Vee stores, including the Macomb Hy-Vee, began their support of local veterans with the sponsorship of an upcoming Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
On Monday, Macomb and six other central Illinois Hy-Vee stores - Canton, Galesburg, Bloomington, Jacksonville, Peoria and Peru – began fundraising efforts, collecting proceeds to benefit the Greater Peoria Honor Flight taking place Nov. 17. Customers will be able to make donations at the checkout or by purchasing $10 fundraising cards. Select items will also be available for purchase with a portion of proceeds going to the Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
The November Greater Peoria Honor Flight will transport approximately 75 military veterans from around central Illinois from Peoria to Washington, D.C., to spend the day visiting the Arlington National Cemetery and several other monuments dedicated in honor of their service.
This is the second year the central Illinois stores have sponsored the nonprofit. Greater Peoria Honor Flight.
Supporting the nation’s veterans is an important mission for all Hy-Vee stores. Hy-Vee Homefront, a companywide initiative, aids thousands of veterans, military members and their families through employment, ongoing giving and special programs every year.
