Macomb High’s Charlie Bodiford and Reed Lytle wrapped their 2026 season Friday at the Illinois High School Association Class 2A State Track and Field prelims at Charleston.
Bodiford, a junior, finished 31st in the shot put with a distance of 14.35-meters (47feet, 1-inch).
He entered the event ranked 24th out of 44 qualifiers after finishing fourth in regional competition at Galesburg with a toss of 15.32m (50-3.25). While not in the top two, Bodiford’s efforts exceeded the qualifying standard as set by the IHSA, allowing Bodiford to claim a qualifying spot.
Meanwhile, in the pole vault, Lytle was one of 10 that missed the opening height of 3.50m (11-6).
The sophomore entered the event ranked 21st of 45 after recording a personal best effort of 4.03m (13-2.50) in finishing fourth in sectional competition. Like Bodiford, Lytle’s efforts exceeded the qualifying standard as set by the IHSA, allowing him to claim a spot in the state.
In Class 1A, Bushnell-Prairie City High School sophomore Jonavan Harrell had qualified to take part in the long jump, but did not take part in Thursday’s Class 1A prelims.
He claimed a sectional title at the Class 1A Sectional meet hosted by Mercer County at George Pratt Memorial Field in Aledo, Harrell recorded a personal best leap of 6.46-meters (21-feet, 2.50-inches) in claiming the title.
He was ranked 27th out of 47 qualifiers in the event.
