MACOMB- The Big Ten Conference has announced the date for the week one matchup between Western Illinois University and the University of Illinois. The game will take place on Friday, August 29 in Champaign, Illinois. Kickoff time and TV designation will be announced at a later date.
WIU Football is no stranger to Big Ten opponents, having played Indiana in 2024, Minnesota in 2022, and Illinois in 2018. The meeting on August 29 will be the fourth time ever that WIU and Illinois will face off against one another, with Illinois winning all three of the previous meetings in 2007, 2015, and2018.
The Leathernecks have had a great offseason so far by having the number one recruiting class in the Big South-Ohio Valley Conference.
“We’re excited to take on a challenging and competitive schedule this fall. Our team has worked extremely hard this offseason and will be ready to play come August.” said head coach Joe Davis.
