Community Calendar Blandinsville

TUESDAY After School Program Blandinsville First Christian Church After School Program for Kindergarten through High School students from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

SATURDAYS Life Skills Program Blandinsville First Christian Church Life Skills Program for 5th grade through High School students from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on the third Saturday of each month.

Story Hour and Crafts Saturdays at The Blandinsville-Hire Library at 10 AM.

Snacks will be available. Check out the many new kids and young adult books. Spend some time at the library and take a book home to read!

SUNDAY Youth Group Blandinsville First Christian Church Youth Group for 5th grade through High School students from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

Bushnell

WEDNESDAYS Story time at the Bushnell library each Wednesday from 2:30-3:30 at the Bushnell Public Library. We will have snacks, story, crafts, and playtime.

FRIDAY, MAY 29 River Bend Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry

will be at Fitch Manor, 1500 W. Main St., Bushnell on May 29.

This is a drive-up Food Pantry. Registration will be from 9:3010am and food distribution will be held 10-11:30am. Helpful Hint: Laundry baskets are great for the mobile food pantry.

MONDAY, JUNE 1-JUNE 4 Vacation Bible School The Bushnell Area Ministerial Association Combined VBS, “Illumination Station”, will be held at Bushnell Stage Park. Kids who have turned 3 through those who have completed 5th grade are invited to join each evening starting with a meal at 5:30pm, with learning, crafts, games and activities from 6 to 8pm. FRIDAY & SATURDAY, JUNE 5 &6 Clean up Day split into two days. The North side of town divided by the highway will be picked up on Friday June 5th. The South side of town divided by the highway will be picked up on Saturday June 6th. Bulk pick-up is for residents only, the amount for each residence should not be greater than what could fit in a typical pick-up truck, or something like four bulk items and 20 bags of trash. Please bag all items that can be bagged to help the clean up go swiftly and keep the mess to a minimum.

FRIDAY, JUNE 5 “Stargazing at the Park” at Argyle Lake State Park (near Sunset shelter) with hobby astronomist Larry Knicl. Depending on the date, there will be an opportunity to observe planets and the Moon and Mars (June), Mars, Pluto and the Moon (August) and Saturn, Pluto, Neptune and possibly the remnants of the Orionids meteor shower (October). at Lake Argyle from 9:30-11:30am at the concession/parking area near the lake. Kids can bring their own poles or fishing poles will be available for children to borrow. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes and certificates will be awarded at 11:30am.

The Macomb Municipal Band Returns The Macomb Municipal Band returns to the City Hall lawn located at 232 East Jackson Street on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. The community is encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating during the performances.

The Wine Sellers We have some great music to support a great cause on Friday, May 29. A portion of all donations will go to support Habitat for Humanity of McDonough Co. Angel McCoy, Executive Director, will be present to provide an overview of H4H's activity in our area, including an update on homes currently under construction. Music will be provided by The Soulsters, featuring Jim Betts on guitar, Pete Hannen on sax, Brett Dougherty on bass, and Bill Maakestad on guitar and vocals.

SATURDAY, MAY 30 A One Book One Community Festival Event

Macomb Fire Station Safety Tour for Kids-between 2-3pm, Macomb Firefighters will show kids fire safety practices and tour the fire station with the. Guy Huston will read Wombat Said Come In with the kids and give each child or family their own copy of the book. The story is set in Australia during bush fire season.

Home Garden Conservation Tour from 3-4:30pm in Macomb. Register at prairielandconservancy. org/events. Come and see a garden straight out of a storybook!

FRIDAY, JUNE 5 Movies In the Park - Jumanji

Macomb Park District presents Jumanji at 8:30pm. Paddy's Patties will be set up at Veterans Park ready to feed hungry adventurers before the sun sets. Local food, good vibes, and the kind of service that makes community events work.

SATURDAY, JUNE 6 Macomb Library Knitting Club at 10:30am. Share your love of knitting or crocheting with both experienced and beginner crafters. Meet fellow knitters, brush up on skills and learn new techniques. Materials will be provided but feel free to bring your own projects. All levels of experience are welcome.

THURSDAYS, JUNE 11 Little Lunchers Returns Join the Macomb Park District at the Chandler Park Gazebo from 12-1pm for an afternoon of fun. We are teaming up with our friends at the Macomb Public Library for an engaging story and play time, and the best part? Our sponsors are providing a completely FREE lunch and drinks for the kids! No registration is required—just bring your listening ears and hungry sprouts.

SATURDAY, JUNE 13 Juneteenth Celebration

Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ Juneteenth Celebration will be held from 12-4pm. The celebration will include games, food, raffles, give-aways, entertainment, vendors, crafts, a foam party and FREE haircuts for kids (9am-noon by appointment).
