Macomb High’s Charlie Bodiford and Reed Lytle earned berths for next week’s Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Class 2A State Track and Field Finals following their performances in sectional competition May 21 at Galesburg.
Bodiford, a junior, finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 15.32-meters (50-feet, 3.25-inches). While not in the top two, Bodiford’s efforts exceeded the qualifying standard as set by the IHSA, allowing Bodiford to claim a spot in the state finals.
Meanwhile, sophomore Reed Lytle recorded a personal best effort of 4.03m (13-2.50) in the pole vault in finishing fourth. Like Bodiford, Lytle’s efforts exceeded the qualifying standard as set by the IHSA, allowing him to claim a spot in the state finals.
In the team standings, the Bombers finished 13th with 16 points. Metamora won the team title recording 132 points.
