The Macomb High baseball team wrapped up Prairieland Conference play Friday afternoon, posting an 11-0 win in six innings at Peoria Heights.
The Bombers improved to 20-11 on the season as they wrapped up league play with a 4-5 record.
It is the first time the Bombers have recorded 20 wins in a season since 2016 when MHS finished with a record of 21-7.
That team reached the IHSA Class 2A Elite Eight before losing to Rockford Lutheran 12-5 in supersectional play at Rock Island.
Peoria Heights dropped to 4-20 on the season, finishing Prairieland play with a 1-8 record.
The Bombers flew out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, despite having just one hit.
Aiden Reynolds opened the inning by getting hit with a pitch. He moved to second on a passed ball and reached third when Jake Ogle reached on an error by Peoria Heights shortstop Jaxson White.
Blaine Eddington followed with a base hit to left, scoring Reynolds. Ogle scored on a wild pitch with Eddington moving to second.
Eddington moved to third on a second wild pitch before Jaxon Barclay walked. He stole second with an error by catcher Gabriel Shaver allowing Eddington to score and Barclay to reach third.
Barclay scored the final Macomb run of the inning when Isaac Leinbach grounded out to third.
Macomb tallied a single run in the third inning.
Reynolds singled to right with two outs. He stole second and scored when Ogle singled to left.
The Bombers tacked on three runs in each of the final two innings.
In the top of the fifth, Drew Watson walked to open the inning. Reynolds followed with a single to center before the duo executed a double steal.
Watson scored when Ogle popped out to short. Eddington followed with a single to left with Reynolds advancing to third. Eddington then stole second.
Barclay hit a sacrifice fly to center that scored Reynolds and advanced Eddington to third. He scored on a balk by pitcher Alex Nelson.
Macomb scored its final three runs in the top of the sixth.
Leinbach walked and stole second before scoring on a single to left by Nick Elbe. Watson walked before both runners executed a double steal.
Elbe scored on a sac fly to left by Reynolds. Watson scored on a two-out single to left by Ogle.
Macomb out-hit Peoria Heights 10-2 with the Patriots also committing four errors.
Macomb’s stellar pitching continued Friday.
Ogle pitched four innings, allowing one hit and four walks with 10 strikeouts.
Watson pitched one inning, allowing one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.
Reynolds pitched one inning, allowing one walk.
Offensively, Elbe, Reynolds, Ogle and Eddington each had two hits for MHS. Ogle knocked in three runs and scored once, while Reynolds had one run batted in, scoring three times.
Elbe had a double with a run scored and one batted in, while Eddington scored twice with one RBI.
Barclay and Leinbach each had a hit with a run scored and a run batted in. Watson scored twice.
Jaxson White and Jaxson Heyworth had one hit each, both singles, for Peoria Heights.
Dakota Losh pitched 4.1 innings, allowing eight runs, five earned, on eight hits. He struck out two, walked two and hit a batter.
Nelson pitched the final 1.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on two hits. He struck out one and walked two.
Macomb’s contest against Rock Island Alleman was canceled, due to Alleman having already played its allotted 35 games.
The Bombers were scheduled to play one final game before regional competition heading to Sunny Lane Field in Monmouth Monday to face host Monmouth-Roseville (14-14).
Macomb, the No. 4 sub-sectional seed, will head to Eureka on May 28 to face the regional host, the No. 6 seed Hornets (1518) in a semifinal contest.
Regional play was set to begin Monday with No. 9 seed El Paso-Gridley (11-19) playing at No. 8 seed Canton (9-21-1).
Monday’s winner will play top-seeded Illini West (25-6) at Eureka on Wednesday in the first semifinal.
The semifinal winners will play for the title on May 30 at 1 p.m.
The regional champion advances to sectional play at Chillicothe.
