Property Tax Assessments Due Next Month

Macomb City Township Assessor Glenda Bryan told the township board last week that she expects property tax data next month from the county supervisor of assessments.

City Township Supervisor Angela Markley told the board that external auditor BakerTilly is beginning its 2025-2026 audit. She said their field work is set to begin June 19.

Markley said a new administrative assistant and general assistance supervisor begins work this week. She said nine general assistance applications were given out for May and 12 interviews were scheduled.

The township supervisor said 35 applications were reviewed in April. There were five denials and decisions are pending in five other cases. Markley said five men and seven women were determined to be employable, nine men and seven women have applied for disability, and two men and two women were determined to be medically exempt from employment.

Markley said her office distributed $10,953 in general assistance funding last month. The largest allocation was $8,178 in shelter expenses.
