
Oscar Nateras, a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Macomb, IL on May 17, 2026, at the age of 42 after a hard-fought battle with gastric cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and closest friends.
He was born on August 11, 1983, in Delegacion Cuauhtemoc, Mexico City, MX, to the late Hector Nateras Flores and Fabiola Maldonado Leyva. She survives.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.
Oscar is survived by his devoted wife of 17 years, Ehrin, and their two daughters, Jazmyn Elizabeth Nateras and Kendra Joselyn Nateras, all of Macomb, IL and one God-daughter Sophie Sedeno of Carthage, IL. His memory will also be cherished by his siblings: Alfredo Nateras-Maldonado of Mexico City, Hector Nateras-Maldonado and wife Raquel Quintero of Macomb, Blanca and husband Jaime Martinez of Macomb, Elizabeth and husband Luis Miranda of Mexico City, and Hugo Nateras-Maldonado of Mexico City, Breann and James Wallick of Peoria, IL, and Wayne Weems, Davenport, IA along with several nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Agustin Melgar in Mexico City in 1998, Oscar moved to the United States to pursue the American dream, where he built a fulfilling life both personally and professionally. A hard worker and true jack of all trades, Oscar’s career spanned from waiting tables at Mexican Restaurants to management positions at JBS in Worthington, MN, and Beardstown, IL. Most recently, he found success working for Carroll Family Farms in Carthage, IL until his cancer diagnosis. Oscar was a vibrant member of his community, known for his unwavering support of the Macomb Bombers. He was an active member of the Macomb Bomber Band Boosters, even taking on tasks like helping with hemming marching band uniforms for the marching season. His passion for sports was evident as an avid Raider Nation football fan and a devoted supporter of Club America Soccer. Above all, Oscar relished the time spent with his family and friends, particularly enjoying watching his daughters pursue their passions and tending to his beloved English bullies, Maya, Coco, and Bruno. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and daughters and going to Raiders football games. Those who knew Oscar will remember his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and undeniable charm. His kind heart and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Oscar’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Biagini, the ER staff at MDH, the dedicated teams at Illinois Cancer Care, OSF Peoria, Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis and MDH Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Oscar’s illness. Oscar will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him.
Visitation will be Sunday May 31st from 11am-1pm. A Celebration of Oscar’s Life will be held at 1pm at Clugston- Tibbitts Funeral Home, located at 303 E Washington St, Macomb.
Memorials can be made to his wife and children. There will be a light lunch available immediately following at the Legion across the street.
