James Morgan Garrison, 76, of Marietta, passed away at 2:35 p.m. on Friday May 15, 2026, at Allure of Lake Storey in Galesburg.
He was born on August 4, 1949, in Quincy, to James Garrison and Nancy Crisler. Adoptive parent’s great aunt & uncle Guy and Glenola Martin who lovingly raised him. James married Karen Sue Crowl on September 4, 1970, in Bushnell.
James is survived by his wife, Karen Garrison of Marietta; two daughters, Stacie Garrison-Shannon of Marietta, and Shannon (Ian) Petersen of Hazel Crest; one granddaughter, Emily Shannon; identical twin brother, Henry “Gene” (Brenda) Garrison of Germantown Hills; two sisters, Cindy (Rick) Fagerburg of Sarasota, FL; Connie Knee of Pekin, and brother in-law, Richard Crowl of Bushnell, along with extended family members and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his adoptive parents Guy and Glenola Martin, and one brother, Rick Garrison.
James dedicated his life to his family and also to farming and agriculture and was a proud Beck’s seed dealer. He was known as a hardworking steward of the land who took great pride in his work and helping others. He was generous with his time, always willing to lend a hand, and was known for his sense of humor and joking nature. He loved fishing, boating and spending time on the water. James proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell. Additional Celebration of Life arrangements are pending at this time.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Emily Shannon Education Fund.
