The Macomb Middle School track and field squads headed to Chatham-Glenwood High School Saturday to participate in the Illinois Elementary School Association Class 4A Sectional 9 meet.
Athletes from MMS qualifying for next week’s state finals in East Peoria include the following. NOTE: Event winners, along with those exceeding qualifying standards as set by the IESA earn berths to the state finals.
Seventh Grade Girls
800-meters - Evelyn Goc, first, two-minutes, 28.98 seconds (personal best).
1600 sprint medley relay (200-200-400-800) - Macomb (Scotlyn Terry, Blakely Royer, Makenzie Pilat and Goc), first, 4:34.97 (season best). In addition, Everleigh Johnson and Kailyn Richards will serve as alternates.
Shot put - Zenovia Gant, first, 8.27-meters (27-feet, 1.75-inches).
Pole vault - Goc, first, 2.45m (8-0.50) and Royer, second, 2.37m (7-9.25) (personal best).
Seventh Grade Boys
400 - Daris Gosa, second, 58.78 (personal best).
High jump - Justice Peters, second, 1.62m (5-3.75).
Eighth Grade Girls High jump - Dehlia Graham, fourth, 1.49m (4-10.50).
Eighth Grade Boys
Discus - Mason James, fifth, 40.23m (132-0) and Bradley Wagoner, ninth, 38.19m (125-3).
High jump - Keyshaun Sanders, first, 1.78m (5-10) (personal best) and Faraz Khan, third, 1.72m (5-7.75).
Pole vault - Wagoner, third, 3.05m (10-0) (personal best).
In the team standings, the Macomb seventh grade girls finished second out of 16 teams with 64 points, trailing only sectional champion Chatham-Glenwood, who finished with 110.5 points.
The eighth grade boys finished fourth in their division with 44 points, while the seventh grade boys scored 18 points to place ninth as a team in their division.
The eighth grade girls finished 12th in their division, scoring nine points.
