How One Building Shaped Macomb’s Automotive Story
Spoon River College will be offering a “From Carriages to Cars: How One Building Shaped Macomb’s Automotive Story” course on Thursday, May 21 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at the Western Illinois Museum in Macomb.
Discover how the story of the automobile in rural Illinois unfolds within one historic building in downtown Macomb. Once a bustling carriage shop, later a Ford dealership, and now home to a community museum, this site reflects over a century of local resilience and innovation. From rebuilding after a devastating fire to embracing a new purpose, each chapter reveals the determination of residents who looked to the future.
There is a $10 course fee, and pre-registration is required through Spoon River College Community Outreach. Class will be held at the Western Illinois Museum located at 201 S. Lafayette St. in Macomb. For more information or to register, call 309-833-6031 or register online at src. augusoft.net.
