The Macomb High girls track and field team headed to Metamora Wednesday for Illinois High School Association Class 2A Sectional competition.
In the team standings, Macomb finished fifth with 60.5 points. Eureka won the team title with 112 points, followed by Morton
(101), Mahomet-Seymour (78), Metamora
(77) and MHS.
The Bombers had two sectional champions.
Senior Dakota Thorman won the discus with a throw of 36.63-meters (120-feet,
2-inches), while junior Aubrey Holthaus won the high jump with a season-best leap of 1.54m (5-0.50).
Senior Jordan Hines finished third in the
100 (12.43 seconds) and 200-meter dashes
(25.71), but qualified for both on the basis of time.
Holthaus finished fifth in the 300 low hurdles with a personal best time of 47.55. The event saw an incredible 10 athletes qualify for next week’s state finals based on time.
Freshman Khloe Diggs also qualified in the high jump at 1.54m (5-0.50).
In the relays, the 4x200 quartet of sophomore Clair Thompson, Holthaus, sophomore Madison Nelson and Hines finished second with a time of 1:46.60.
