The Bushnell-Prairie City High School baseball team wrapped up Prairieland Conference play Wednesday hosting Peoria Heights.

The Patriots scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh and hung on for a 3-2 victory.

B-PC slipped to 2-23 overall, 1-8 in Prairieland play. Peoria Heights improved to 4-16 overall, 1-7 in league contests.

Peoria Heights scored an unearned run in the top of the first.

Jaxson White singled to left before advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt by Dakota Losh. White scored when Sebastian Thornton reached on an error by Alex Kohler at short.

The Patriots made it 2-0 in the third, scoring after two were out.

White and Losh singled before White scored on an error by left fielder Ryan Adler on Thornton’s fly ball.

B-PC got on the board in the bottom of the fifth, taking advantage of a pair of Peoria Heights errors.

The first error by Losh at third base allowed Jayden Powell to reach and advance to second. Chase Harmon then committed an error at second base on Dylan King’s grounder, allowing Powell to score.

The Spartans pulled even in the bottom of the sixth.

Thomas Anderson tripled to center to open the frame. Miles Strode walked before Landon Ferguson struck out.

Kohler drew a walk to load the bases before Adler singled to right, scoring Anderson. Strode also attempted to score on the play, but was thrown out at the plate, leaving the game knotted at 2-2.

Peoria Heights grabbed the lead back in the top of the seventh.

White reached on a pop fly single to open the inning. One out later, he stole second and scored when Thornton singled to center.

Aydin Whalen walked a pair of batters in the bottom of the seventh, but was able to record the final three outs to lock down the victory.

Peoria Heights out-hit B-PC 7-4 with the Patriots also committing five errors, compared to two for the Spartans.

Anderson had three hits, including a triple, with a run scored, while Adler added one hit and one run batted in. Powell also scored a run for B-PC.

Palm pitched 6.2 innings for the Spartans, allowing three runs, one earned, on seven hits. He struck out 14, walked two and hit a batter.

Palm threw 109 pitches, 82 for strikes. Strode came on in relief, hitting two batters before notching the final out.

White had three hits and scored three runs for Peoria Heights. Thornton had two hits and two runs batted in, while Losh and Crew Shaver added one hit each.

Thornton pitched six innings, allowing two runs, one earned on four hits. He struck out six, walked two and hit two batters.

Whalen pitches a scoreless seventh to record the save.

The Spartans opened the new week Tuesday evening, heading to Dozer Field in Peoria to face ROWVA/Williamsfield in a non-conference contest.

The weather ended up being the winner as the rains came in the fourth inning, halting the contest before it was able to be completed.

The Spartans were scheduled to return to action Thursday at Monmouth United (21-5-2).

Next week, the Spartans are slated to host Camp Point Central on May 18 and Abingdon- Avon on May 20.
