WEEKLY SELF-CARE COLUMN
Service projects are a great way to be involved in your community and to give back to the world.
One idea is collecting school supplies and backpacks for local schools. You would be surprised the amount of people this would benefit.
Collecting food for food drives or food banks is another great idea. If you wanted to take it one step further you could post online about it and pick up donations from people around town who can’t or do not want to go out.
Grocery shopping for elderly or single parent families whether they pay for the food or you take donations for the food. Many elderly people find it hard to get out of the house, let alone get around a store.
Cleaning up local parks and centers of trash has such a huge benefit.
Doing lawn care for free for elderly or disabled people in town is helpful. Just be careful because some people will try to take advantage or that.
I encourage everyone to try at least one of these ideas this summer. You will be surprised at the difference one act of kindness can cause.
