Bushnell-Prairie City grabbed an early lead, but host Farmington rallied to record a 10-5 Prairieland Conference victory in high school baseball action Saturday afternoon.
Farmington improved to 16-5-1 overall, 6-1 in Prairieland play. B-PC slipped to 2-22 overall, 1-7 in league contests.
The Spartans scored four runs in their first at-bat.
Connor Palm led off the game with a walk and moved to second on a ground out. Thomas Anderson followed with a two-run home run to center, giving the Spartans a 2-0 lead.
Miles Strode followed by reaching on an error by Farmington shortstop Bradyn Brewer. Ryan Adler walked with both runners then advancing on a wild pitch.
Strode scored and Adler moved to third when Landon Ferguson grounded out to second. Adler scored when Alex Kohler singled to center, completing the four-run uprising.
Farmington scored once in the bottom of the inning when Landon Crawford tripled and scored on a sac fly to center by Tristan Hendy.
The Spartans scored in the second when Palm walked with one out and scored when Anderson doubled to center with two outs.
The Farmers scored once in the bottom of the third before taking the lead the following inning by scoring six runs.
Farmington had six hits in the inning, also taking advantage of two walks.
Brody Shepherd and Tristan Hendy recorded two-run singles, while Paxton Jostes and Bronson Atchley added run-scoring hits as eight straight batters reached base during the inning.
Farmington scored the game’s final two runs in the bottom of the sixth as Braxton Krusa singled before scoring when Atchley homered to center.
Farmington out-hit B-PC 11-3 with the Farmers also committing two errors.
Anderson had two hits and three runs batted in, while Kohler added a hit and a run batted in.
Ferguson also knocked in a run, while Palm scored twice. Anderson, Strode and Adler also scored one run apiece.
Ethan Hyde pitched 3.1 innings, allowing eight earned runs on eight hits. He struck out three and walked four.
Palm pitched 2.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits with one strikeout.
Atchley had two hits and three RBIs, while Hendy also knocked in three runs for the Farmers. Shepherd added two RBIs.
Landon Crawford had two hits and three runs scored.
Boston Smith started on the mound for the Farmers. He pitched one inning, allowing four runs, two earned, on two hits, also walking two.
Trevor Frye picked up the win in relief, pitching five innings. He allowed one earned run on one hit, striking out 11 and walking four.
Brody Wilcoxen pitched one inning, recording one strikeout.
The Spartans are scheduled to return to action Tuesday, hosting ROWVA/Williamsfield (14-11). B-PC is slated to wrap up Prairieland Conference play Wednesday, hosting Peoria Heights (3-14, 0-5).
On Thursday, the Spartans head to Monmouth to face United (20-5-2).
