Cyclones Offensive Outburst Follows Rain In 17-2 Victory

First it was rain, then it was a Cyclone offensive outburst Thursday afternoon at Bushnell-Prairie City High School.

B-PC and West Prairie/ Southeastern saw a rain delay in the third inning of their Prairieland Conference baseball contest.

Then, leading 4-2 heading into the fifth inning, it was the Cyclone offense that rained on the Spartans, scoring 13 runs on the way to WP/SE recording a 17-2 victory in five innings.

WP/SE won its fourth game in as many days, improving to 9-9-1 overall, 3-5 in Prairieland play.

B-PC dropped to 2-21 overall, 1-6 in conference games.

The Cyclones scored twice in their first at-bat against B-PC starter Alex Kohler.

Mason Whitman walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Braden Coplan reached on a single to third with Whitman moving to third.

Matt Whitman fouled out to first. Coplan stole second before Case Marlow struck out for the second out of the inning.

Austin Nelson followed with a two-run single to left, scoring Mason Whitman and Braden Coplan to give WP/SE a 2-0 lead.

B-PC answered with a single run in the bottom of the inning.

Connor Palm opened the inning with a triple to left and scored when Dylan King followed with a double to center.

WP/SE starter Tyson Carnesretired the next three batters, stranding King at third.

The Cyclones scored once in the second as Holden Coplan walked, stole second and moved to third on an error. He scored when Braden Coplan singled to left.

The visitors added a single run in the third.

Eli DeCounter reached on a one-out error by third baseman Ethan Hyde. Kash Lantz followed with a base hit to right, advancing DeCounter to third.

Hudson Reibling walked to load the bases before DeCounter scored on a passed ball with Holden Coplan at the plate.

But Hyde, pitching in relief of Kohler, avoided additional damage as he struck out Mason Whitman and retired Braden Coplan on a pop fly to Palm at short.

B-PC used two singles and an error to load the bases to open the bottom of the third inning.

Ryan Adler hit a sac fly that scored King to make it 4-2.

Landon Ferguson was hit by a pitch to load the bases. But Carnes got Kohler to hit into a 6-4-3 double play that ended the inning.

After a scoreless fourth inning, the Cyclones broke the contest open in the top of the fifth, sending 18 batters to the plate, scoring 13 runs.

The inning included six hits, five walks, three errors, one hit batter, three wild pitches and one passed ball.

Braden Coplan had a tworun triple and an RBI single during the inning, while Austin Nelson added a tworun double.

Matt Whitman recorded an RBI double, while Holden Coplan also recorded an RBI by drawing a bases-loaded walk.

WP/SE out-hit B-PC 11-6. The Cyclones had three errors, compared to five for the Spartans.

Braden Coplan and Nelson knocked in four runs each for the Cyclones. Coplan had four hits, including a triple, also scoring three times.

Holden Coplan and DeCounter scored three runs each, while Kash Lantz and Mason Whitman both scored twice.

Carnes picked up the win, allowing two runs, one earned, on six hits. He struck out seven, walked one and hit a batter.

Palm and King had two BACK!!!

hits each, both scoring a run. Miles Strode also had two hits, while Adler knocked in a run.

B-PC used four pitchers. Kohler started, allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits in 2.1 innings. He struck out three and walked six.

Hyde pitched 1.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on two hits. He struck out one, walked two and hit a batter.

King pitched one-third of an inning, allowing four runs on one hit with three walks. He struck out one.

Miles Strode pitched twothirds of an inning, allowing six runs, zero earned, on four hits. He struck out two and hit a batter.
