Betty “Peanut” Asher, 66, of Prairie City, IL passed away at 12:25 am on Saturday May 2, 2026 at Macomb Post Acute Care in Macomb, IL. She was born on June 15, 1959 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont to Clyde and Helena (Croteau) McGinnis. She married Michael “Earl” Asher on July 10, 2010 at their home in Prairie City; he survives.
Also surviving are her two sons, Justin Beer of Macomb and Jeremy Pepin of Colombia, MO, two grandchildren, Lilly Guerrero and Jordan Silva; two sisters, Sue Smith of North Carolina and Ann Cushman of Tennessee.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Bobbi Jo Beer.
Betty had an infectious and caring personality, spending much of her time with family and friends. Besides spending time with friends, Betty was an animal lover. Growing up on a farm, she helped care for and show horses in her younger years. She leaves behind her three dogs Ariel, Lucy, and Buster who were her world. Betty was also very passionate about sports and loved the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.
Visitation will be held on from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday May 6, 2026 at Martin-Hollis Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation.
