From the galaxy far, far away to the Western University Union Grand Ballroom, comedian and actor Asif Ali is bringing his high-energy stand-up to Macomb this Wednesday, May 6.
The performance, set for 7 p.m. in the University Union Grand Ballroom, marks a homecoming of sorts for Ali’s first love: stand-up comedy. Doors for the event will open at 6:30 p.m..
While many may recognize Ali from his roles in the Emmynominated Disney+ series 'WandaVision' and 'The Mandalorian,' or the acclaimed feature 'Don’t Worry Darling,' he began his career as a club-grown comic and improviser. When he isn’t on a film set, Ali is frequently found on tour with Jo Koy, sharpening his material for an upcoming comedy special.
Ali is also a founding member of the popular sketch group 'Goatface Comedy,' alongside Aristotle Athari, Fahim Anwar, and Hasan Minhaj. His stand-up bits have previously been featured on major networks including Comedy Central, Netflix and FOX.
The event is hosted by the University Union Board and the Bureau of Cultural Affairs, with support from the Illinois Arts Council. Tickets are free for WIU students with a valid ID and $5 for the general public.
Attendees should note that the university maintains a clear bag policy for the event, with bags no larger than 8.5' x 5.5' permitted. Additionally, guests age 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult, and no admission will be allowed after 8:30 p.m..
