MAC Seeks Artists for Bicentennial Exhibit

The Macomb Arts Center is issuing a homecoming call to the creators who first found their vision among the rolling hills and historic squares of McDonough County. In celebration of the county’s 200th anniversary, the center is seeking submissions for a special bicentennial exhibition, “McDonough County Artists,” curated to highlight the deeprooted connection between place and perspective.

The open-call exhibition is specifically looking for artists who are natives of the county, including those who were raised in the area or attended primary or secondary schools within its borders. While the subject matter is open to all themes and styles, the goal is to showcase the diverse spirit and history of the local community through art.

Submissions are open across all mediums—including painting, sculpture, photography and digital arts—with a deadline of May 3. Interested artists must submit five to 15 examples of their work via email to [email protected]. Submissions should include high-quality images, a brief artist statement and bio, and details regarding each piece’s media type and dimensions.

A panel of artists will review the entries to curate the final collection, which will be on display at the Macomb Arts Center, 25 East Side Square, from June 2 through June 27.

Accepted artwork must be dropped off or installed by May 31. For more information on submission requirements, artists are encouraged to contact the Macomb Arts Center directly.
