Pride and friendship, laughter, too—Dr. Seuss’ “Seussical” waits for you.
It’s 165 days away (but the countdown changes each day), but joy and wonder are on their way. As announced by the Western Illinois University Department of Theatre and Dance, the 2026 SummerStage event, “Seussical,” will be held on Friday, July 10, and Saturday, July 11.
Details will unfold as summer draws near. But here’s what aspiring actors and musicians should hear: Auditions for “Seussical” are set —mark your days: Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9, you can take center stage! The specific times and places will soon be clear.
With rehearsals kicking off on Monday, June 1, of this year.
A family show by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, it follows Horton the Elephant, who stands tall and guards with sincerity.
He shelters an abandoned egg with a secret inside, while watching Whoville’s folks in stride. The Cat in the Hat narrates with delight, showing how far imagination takes flight. But can Horton prevail and keep hope alive, or will challenges test if he’ll truly survive?
