MACOMB FARMER’S MARKET
ManCave Creations
Marcus Phillips is a Reading, MI native, but has lived in Macomb for about 15 years. Marcus is the owner of ManCave Creations (sometimes seen in print as two words - Man Cave), a homebased business that creates beautifully crafted furniture and wood novelties.
Marcus’ garage is his ManCave, his sanctuary, where he goes to work on his projects and reflect upon his identity in Christ. Marcus and his wife Sasha have six children, and she works as a helicopter electrician for the National Guard. Phillips is a true entrepreneur and with an imagination that has no end when it comes to wood products. He tested the waters at the Macomb winter market, and his schedule for summer is filling up fast.
ManCave Creations will also be at the Central Illinois Flea Market (Peoria Speedway), a show at Washington, Illinois, and Macomb Heritage Days, to name a few, and Marcus is known for his custom projects. He has crafted a wooden guitar, kitchen counters, planter boxes, a bar, a dart board station, picnic tables, Adirondack lawn chairs, coolers, porch swings, dog bowl stands, playing card holders, shadow boxes and desks, just to name a few. In addition to custom orders, Marcus will have already made items for sale at Macomb Farmers Market.
Like several of the craftsmen I have interviewed, ManCave Creations needs more space. His goal is to build a building for his business - build it himself of course - and to free his garage up for other things like parking cars. Marcus’s next big purchase, however, will be a C & C table, where he can operate a routing business. Those tables aren’t cheap and he is being patient, as he tries to run a debt free operation.
A custom order from ManCave Creations usually takes about two weeks. On a big project Marcus asks for a security deposit to help purchase materials. Many of Marcus Phillip’s past projects are shown on his Facebook page under ManCave Creations. He can also be contacted by phone at (317) 398-2740, email at mancavecreations309@ gmail.com or Shopify at shopmancavecreations. com. He accepts cash, Venmo, check, debit cards and credit cards.
Stop by ManCave Creation’s booth at Macomb Summer Farmers Market and visit with this friendly, skilled craftsman. Maybe even sit for a spell in one of his Adirondack chairs. And maybe even take it home with you.
