The Bushnell-Prairie City High School baseball team opened a new week playing a pair of road contests.
On Monday, the Spartans headed to Peoria Christian for a non-conference contest against the Chargers.
Peoria Christian scored three runs in the first inning and maintained control throughout in notching a 6-0 victory.
The Chargers added one run in the third and two more in the fourth.
Both teams finished with four hits, while B-PC als committed four errors that led to four unearned runs.
Dylan King, Miles Strode, Braxton Kempf and Jayden Powell each had one hit for B-PC.
Alex Kohler pitched 3.2 innings, allowing six runs, two earned, on four hits. He struck out two, walked four and hit two batters.
King pitched the final 2.1 innings, striking out two and walking two.
Josiah Kniep homered, knocking in two runs and scoring twice for Peoria Christian (6-10).
Luke Holland doubled and knocked in a run, while Andrew Gerig scored twice for the Chargers.
Landyn Hauter pitched six innings, allowing three hits and one walk, striking out 11 in recording the win.
Micah Bailey pitched one inning, allowing one hit, striking out one.
On Tuesday, the Spartans were back on the road, heading to Canton for another non-conference contest.
The Little Giants scored six runs in the third inning on the way to recording a 10-3 victory at Bob Ems Field.
B-PC dropped to 0-16 on the season, while Canton improved to 4-10-1.
B-PC scored twice in the opening inning. Connor Palm struck out, but reached on a wild pitch on strike three. He moved to second on a wild pitch and third on a passed ball as King walked.
King stole second as Ryan Adler struck out. Palm scored on a wild pitch and King moved to third before scoring on a base hit by Thomas Anderson.
Kash Van Houten homered for the Little Giants in the bottom of the first for their first run.
Canton then took the lead in the bottom of the third. The Little Giants sent 12 batters to the plate during the inning that included three errors, two walks, a hit batsman and two hits.
The Little Giants scored once in the fourth, as a walk, single and error led to a run.
B-PC scored its final run in the top of the fifth.
Powell was hit by a pitch and moved to second on a wild pitch. Palm walked before King singled to left, loading the bases.
Anderson then hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Powell.
Canton scored its final two runs in the bottom of the inning. VanHouton’s double to left scored Brody Ketcham and Hayden Trigg who had reached on a walk and error respectively.
Both teams finished with five hits, but B-PC also committed six errors that led to nine unearned runs for the Little Giants.
Anderson knocked in two runs for B-PC, while Palm and Powell both had a hit and run scored. King also scored a run, also recording two hits.
Ethan Hyde pitched five innings for B-PC. He allowed one earned run on five hits, striking out four, walking four and hitting one batter.
Palm pitched a scoreless sixth inning. VanHouten doubled and homered, knocking in three runs, while scoring twice for Canton.
Asher Blessman also had two runs batted in and scored twice, while Ketcham also scored twice.
Ben Webb pitched four innings for Canton, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits. He struck out eight, walked three and hit a batter.
Ketcham pitched the final three innings, allowing two hits, while striking out four.
B-PC was slated to return home Thursday to face Mendon Unity (6-5) in non-conference play. The Spartans will then head to Stronghurst on Friday to play West Central (3-8).
