Homer Gordon Heidenreich, 93, known to all as Gordon, passed away at 6:22 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Jerseyville Manor.
He was born at home on September 8, 1932, in Table Grove, Illinois, one of seven children born to the late Delbert and Geraldine (Berry) Heidenreich. He grew up in the Macomb area and graduated from Macomb High School, carrying with him the values of hard work, humility, and determination that would define his life.
On January 25, 1952, he married the former Donna Duffy in Macomb, Illinois, beginning a marriage that would span 55 years and serve as the foundation of a strong and devoted family. Shortly after their marriage, Gordon answered the call to serve his country with the United States Army, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty and pride.
Gordon spent the majority of his working years with NTN Bower in Macomb, where he was respected not only for his skill, but for his leadership. Rising from foreman to supervisor, he took great pride in his work and in the people he worked alongside, earning the respect of coworkers through his steady presence and strong work ethic.
Following his retirement, Gordon and Donna embraced a new chapter of life in Florida, where they enjoyed ten years together. After Donna’s passing on July 26, 2007, Gordon made the decision to return closer to family, settling in Jerseyville.
Gordon was a man of simple joys and steady routines. He found peace in woodworking, often creating with his hands in the same thoughtful way he lived his life. He enjoyed reading, always eager to learn or lose himself in a good story, and he rarely missed an opportunity to follow his beloved Chicago Cubs or Green Bay Packers. He was also a proud member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasons and the American Legion, maintaining lifelong connections through shared values and fellowship.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Evans of Jerseyville; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jo Heidenreich of Wiley, TX; four grandchildren, Chris (Casey) Heidenreich of Wiley, TX, Adam (Erin) Heidenreich of Rockwall, TX, Heidi Carr and her partner, Anne Brinkman, of Arnold, MO, and Scott (Dana) Evans of Festus, MO; seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Heidenreich, Sophia Heidenreich, Grady Evans, Eli Evans, Cole Carr, Hannah Heidenreich and Wyatt Heidenreich; as well as a sister, Vera Zabel of La Harpe.
In addition to his parents and his beloved wife, Donna, he was preceded in death by a son, Mike Heidenreich; and his siblings, Barbara Heidenreich, Elaine Knowles, Paul Heidenreich, Betty Knowles, and Dean Heidenreich.
