No matter the rhythm or the season, there is always an exhilarating escape waiting in dance. Western Illinois University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present its next spectacular, “Dance Escape,” directed by Donald Laney, as a polished celebration of athletic artistry and evocative storytelling. Taking the stage at Hainline Theatre, this annual spring dance concert will present five captivating performances from April 23-26 .Evening performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m., April 23-25, with 2 p.m. matinees on April 25-26.
This concert is more than just a performance; it is a creative pipeline, featuring a dynamic tapestry of original works choreographed by both students and instructors within the University Dance Company. Each piece serves as a curated exploration, integrating a wide range of dance genres including modern/contemporary, the lively energy of jazz, the vibrant rhythms of Afro-modern and the enduring elegance of classical ballet.
Tickets are $20 for general admission and $17 for seniors 62 and older and non-students under 18. Admission is free for all WIU students, faculty and staff with a valid school ID. Tickets can be purchased online or at the WIU Box Office located in the Hainline Lobby.
