Western Illinois University Multicultural Center (MCC) will host Casa Latina Cultural Center's 11th Annual Calle Murray from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, April 25, along Murray Street and the MCC Lawn on WIU's Macomb campus.
This year's theme, 'Adding Color in Dark Times,' highlights the power of unity, belonging and community during challenging moments. The event is open to all WIU students, faculty, staff and community members. Calle Murray showcases the vibrancy of traditional Latinx festivals through colorful décor, music and cultural activities 'The event emphasizes community building by creating space for students to connect with their cultural identity and feel a strong sense of belonging on campus,' said MCC Director Katy Valentin. 'Families attending alongside students can enjoy a variety of activities designed for all ages, making it a welcoming and inclusive experience for everyone. The event brings together students, families and community members to celebrate culture while fostering connection across differences.'
